Who is your favorite female role model from history and why?
Eleanor Roosevelt. Her belief that 'the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams' perfectly aligns with my possibilistic outlook. Her advocacy for human rights and her determination remind me daily that with vision and resilience, everything is possible.
What's the most empowering quote by a woman that motivates you daily?
I have two favorite quotes-- both Latinas. "‘Feet, what do I need you for when I have wings to fly?’ by Frida Kahlo. This quote resonates with my belief in the boundless potential within each of us. It's a daily reminder to soar beyond our limitations and embrace our unique journey. The second is Mafalda, a six-year-old girl and the main character in an Argentinian comic book and animated series of the same name, who is a progressive youth and concerned about humanity and world peace: "The ideal would be to have the heart in the head and the brain in the chest. So we would think with love and love with wisdom.”
If you could have dinner with three influential women, living or deceased, who would you choose and what would you ask them?
I'd choose Ruth Bader Ginsburg, for her commitment to equality; Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, for her early advocacy of women's rights; and Anne Fontaine, for her wise definition of success and balancing profession and family life.
If you had to create a women's empowerment playlist, which songs would definitely be on it?
- "Run the World (Girls)" by Beyoncé
- "Respect" by Aretha Franklin
- "Brave" by Sara Bareilles
- "Girl on Fire" by Alicia Keys
- "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor
- "Try Everything" by Shakira
If you could travel back in time and give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be?
"Embrace your authentic self and remember that everything is possible. Your uniqueness is your superpower. Never dim your light for the comfort of others; shine brightly, and let your journey inspire others to do the same."
Can you share a memorable and empowering moment from your personal life or career that made you proud to be a woman?
"Launching my podcast, 'A La Latina: the playbook to succeed being your authentic self,' was a pivotal moment. It was the realization of a dream to create a platform that empowers Latinas worldwide by sharing stories of resilience, success, and the power of staying true to oneself."
Share a fun or empowering piece of advice you received from an influential woman in your life.
The most empowering quote that I use and believe and walk in daily is “Love yourself first and the rest will follow” by the Lucille Ball.
What advice would you give to young women who are just starting their careers?
Your vision is your compass, and your will is your wind. Pursue your dreams with conviction and to navigate challenges with optimism. Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire, and remember, success is not just about achieving your goals but also about being your authentic self along the way.
What does International Women's Day mean to you personally, and how do you celebrate the achievements and contributions of women in your everyday life?
To me, International Women's Day is a celebration of progress, a call to action for gender equality, and a reminder of the work still ahead. It's a day to honor the achievements of women and to commit ourselves to continue pushing boundaries and breaking glass ceilings.
White shirts can be dressed up or down, making them suitable for various occasions. How do you style a white shirt to reflect your personality and make a fashion statement?
A white shirt symbolizes a blank canvas, embodying the possibility that lies within simplicity. I style it with bold, colorful accessories that reflect my heritage and optimism, turning an everyday classic into a statement of personal empowerment and style.
